The changes shown in the fund balance for the period ended 30 June 1997 are due to prior period adjustments amounting to 0.5 million, offset by income of 2.3 million and savings recorded owing to cancellation of prior period obligations amount to 10.3 million.

C. The Group of Eight proposals for debt cancellation for Heavily Indebted Poor Countries

The quickest means of doing so is substantial and generous debt cancellation and relief.

An amount of 3,277,774 net saving arises from the cancellation of 2002 2003 obligations.
