Article 4 (13) of the December 2000 Agreement requires the Commission to arrange for expeditious demarcation of the border as delimited.

In particular, the Agreement took as a given that both parties would respect the delimitation and demarcation determinations of the Boundary Commission.

There is no border agreement between the Governments of the Syrian Arab Republic and Lebanon, with no clear demarcation line on the ground.

(c) Physical demarcation of a common land boundary

The sooner demarcation is completed, the better for everyone.

To attempt a demarcation would stir up unnecessary difficulty.

The Department will use satellite imagery to prepare boundary demarcation maps in the ongoing Eritrea Ethiopia Boundary Commission and the Cameroon Nigeria preliminary boundary demarcation.

This was a flagrant breach of article 4.15 of the Algiers Peace Agreement, which states The parties agree that the delimitation and demarcation determinations of the Commission shall be final and binding.

The Commission also referred to technical demarcation issues between Points 17 and 18, which it said would be addressed in future instructions to the demarcation team.

However, concrete steps have yet to be taken to ensure that the agreement is abided by, including the withdrawal of Guinean troops from Sierra Leonean territory and the subsequent demarcation of the boundary.

The most demanding challenge is the land border demarcation negotiations.

We note with concern that land border demarcation is incomplete.

We applaud the progress made so far on the demarcation and settlement of other parts of the Nigeria Cameroon border, and call on both sides to finalize demarcation.

However, outstanding issues, such as the demarcation of the land border, remain.

During the summer and autumn of 2002, preparations for the demarcation continued.

The Commission's surveyors were never able to act on this Demarcation Instruction.

I call on the parties to live up to that Agreement, particularly its article 4, paragraph 15, in which it is stated that the delimitation and demarcation determinations of the Boundary Commission shall be final and binding.
