We hope the disengagement plan from Gaza that we have just carried out will alter for the better the security environment and significantly reduce the existential threats Israel is facing today.

The plan for disengagement and withdrawal from Gaza was an initial step that should be followed by further steps on the basis of the road map and the vision of the two State solution.

(a) To monitor and verify lines of disengagement

The Israeli disengagement will be judged over the long term.

1.30 Contingency planning for the disengagement' includes the pre positioning of food and other supplies for distribution, and preparation for medical emergencies that might arise during the disengagement process.

The parties act in accordance and comply with the Disengagement Agreement

Disengagement from Gaza would be a decisive step in that direction.

We welcome the Knesset's decision to oppose any postponement of that disengagement.

Thus, provisions for the day after disengagement should be put in place.

They highlighted the need for any disengagement of ONUB to be cautious and gradual.

Therefore, Denmark strongly urges that all efforts be focused on making the disengagement successful.

While we welcome Israel's planned disengagement from Gaza and parts of the West Bank, that disengagement must be full and complete if it is to contribute positively to our search for a permanent solution to the Palestinian question.

Greece fully supports the mission of the Quartet's Special Envoy for Gaza Disengagement, Mr. James Wolfensohn, and his efforts to assist in the non security related aspects of the disengagement and in the revival of the Palestinian economy.

On 28 March, the Knesset rejected draft legislation to introduce a national referendum on disengagement.

The Quartet expresses its full support for James Wolfensohn, its Special Envoy for Gaza Disengagement.
