The thirteenth session of the Commission on Sustainable Development, held in New York from 11 to 22 April 2005, was attended by over 75 Government ministers with such diverse portfolios as finance, development, planning, trade, housing, water, health and the environment.

At the first meeting of the consultative group (see para. 10 above), the Minister of Planning and Finance stated that international support continued to be required to improve the public financial management system, as well as the management of oil resources.

During its high level segment, the Forum may wish to consider ways to secure increased finance for sustainable forest management through, inter alia, full acknowledgement of national forest programmes in key development planning processes, including poverty reduction strategies and equivalent mechanisms.
