Forest applications include forest area estimation and mapping, forest monitoring, forest fire assessment and forest management.

Now we looked at the clouds above this forest we looked at the reforestation area, the semi open area and the open area.

Out of the total area of Bosnia and Herzegovina (5,113,000 hectares), forests and forest land account for 53 per cent (2,700,770 hectares or 0.71 hectares of forest and forest land per capita).

Others are experimenting with efforts to raise productivity and quality in the area of forest products.

Even though the National Forest and Park Service engages in forestry in only part of the area administered by the Committee, 35 per cent of the forest pastures in the winter grazing area and 48 per cent of those in the summer grazing area are subject to forestry operations by the State and private owners.

Despite the efforts of the international forestry community, total forest area continues to decline in most regions of the world.

6.3 Regarding the Kippalrova area in which logging was planned, the Committee noted that this forest tract fell within the area covered by the Supreme Court decision of 22 June 1995.

As a result of our conservation efforts, Bhutan has successfully maintained 72.5 per cent of its land area under forest cover.

Brazil's 1988 Constitution declares its Amazonian forest, to be a national heritage area and any use would be subject to the law.

Substantial progress has been made in establishing protected area networks in all regions of the world to prevent loss of forest biological diversity.

4.3 The State party notes that as far as the Paadarskaidi area is concerned, the National Forest  Park Service carried out increment felling (preparative cutting) totalling some 200 300 hectares between 1998 and 2000. The distance between the Angeli area and the Paadarskaidi area is about 30 kilometres.

Over 10 per cent of the global forest area is currently under some form of protection (although the impact and effectiveness of such protection varies significantly).

That programme should increase productivity in the mountain range forest area, supply water to farmers in the region and promote forestry locally with grass roots involvement.

reduce deforestation with a certain percentage within a defined time period reduce by half the proportion of people in extreme poverty that inhabit the forest areas of the world by 2015 double the forest area under secured community ownership, with rights to use and trade products and services by 2015 increase the area of forests under sustainable management by x ha within 10 year

(y) Enhance access by households, small scale forest owners, forest dependent local and indigenous communities, living in and outside forest areas, to forest resources and relevant markets in order to support livelihoods and income diversification from forest management, consistent with sustainable forest management.

Forest operations and the forest industry provide employment and income to millions of workers and forest dwellers.

The State party observes that as far as the admissible part of the complaint with regard to the Paadarskaidi area is concerned, the National Forest and Park Service mainly carried out increment felling (preparative cutting), in the area, amounting to approximately 110 hectares in 1998.

Promote genuine community based forest management that empowers forest peoples.

While forest biodiversity continues to decline as a result of deforestation, forest degradation and associated fragmentation of forest habitats, strong efforts are now being made to reverse this trend by restoring the forest functions in degraded forest landscapes.

The next report is due to be released in 2010. I will not be surprised when it is released and I read that the global forest area has continued to shrink.

C. Greater recognition of sustainable forest management and forest products trade

Forest fiscal reform provides opportunities to increase revenues generated from forest resources.

In view of the total surface of forest areas, both the logging operations carried out and the planned ones are less extensive than those carried out in private forests in the area.

According to the current land demarcation for forestry and statements made by the National Forest and Park Service, the area in question will sooner or later be absorbed into the felling cycle.

For the purposes of determining the area of deforestation to come into the accounting system under Article 3, paragraph 3, each Party shall determine the forest area using the same spatial assessment unit as is used for the determination of afforestation and reforestation, but not larger than 1 hectare.

However, they are likely to differ in forest rich and forest poor countries.

Indeed, every year, the world loses forest area the size of Ireland. The effect on the atmosphere is equivalent to 18 of annual CO2 emissions, more than from the world s entire transport sector.
