A major concern after the withdrawal of UNAMSIL would be a widening information gap, as currently there is no clear cut Government public information policy.

The United Nations could play a vital role in closing that gap, especially through the Department of Public Information.

However, the gap between developed and developing countries in the sphere of public information was growing steadily, making it urgent to establish an equitable international information and communication order.

The Tribunal, in collaboration with these two institutions, aims to fill the information gap regarding its work in Rwanda.
