More and more of the inert matter of the globe is being touched and animated by life.

One of our collaborators is chemist Martin Hanczyc, and he's really interested in the transition from inert to living matter.

What the essence of that is, is that we're taking the sand at our feet, the inert silicon at our feet, and we're breathing a level of complexity into it that rivals that of life itself, and may even surpass it.
