The Conference commended the activities of COMSTECH and ISESCO for their efforts in the service of the Islamic Ummah and called for their support.

In the rich discussions held during the three days of the Conference, the Ministers surveyed the current situation in the Islamic World, emphasized their firm belief in the goals, objectives and principles of the Organization of the Islamic Conference and their insistence on the unity of the Islamic Ummah, and the safeguarding of its dignity, honour and cohesion at a time of increasing challenges and disasters.

This political will to consolidate, reinforce and expand cooperation has enabled the two organizations to establish appropriate machinery for consultations and to pool their efforts in the search for solutions to the crises which the Islamic Ummah is now experiencing.

Recognizes that maintaining and strengthening effective mechanisms for regular coordination and consultation among the Member States particularly at international fora and adoption of a unified stand by them are essential prerequisites for preservation and promotion of common interests of the Islamic Ummah.

The Conference called on Member States to contribute to the resources of the Islamic Programme for Development of Information and Communication (PIDIC) which is aimed at upgrading the media of countries in need of such modernization so that these media can assume their role in promoting the causes of the Islamic Ummah by allocating funds to finance projects submitted by information institutions.

Proceeding from the fact that any ecological catastrophe irrespective of the nature of its origin touches the interests of all countries of the world community and from the responsibility of the Islamic Ummah for the future of the inhabitants of the Aral Sea region and Semipalatinsk nuclear test site zone and reaffirming the need to apply the principles of Islamic solidarity regarding these disasters,
