Given their Resident Coordinator role, UNDP Resident Representatives should provide leadership on gender equality issues and gender mainstreaming within the United Nations system.

B. Resident coordinator system and United Nations country teams

While the management of the resident coordinator system should remain with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which is our principal development institution, the broader United Nations Development Group (UNDG) should guide resident United Nations country teams, led by properly resourced and empowered resident coordinators.

Mr. da Silva Angelo will also continue to serve as the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme and United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone.

Secondly, the use of force must aim at a lawful purpose, such as effecting the lawful arrest of a person suspected of having committed an offence, preventing the escape of a person lawfully detained, defending a person from unlawful violence, self defence, or an action lawfully taken for the purpose of dispersing a demonstration or quelling a riot or insurrection.
