Secondary vocational education.

Higher vocational education in the country is performed on the basis of general secondary, beginning vocational and secondary vocational education, and colleges of higher vocational schools and in State institutions of higher vocational education, including private institutions.

Graduates of these educational institutions receive a secondary vocational education.

In 2002, the rates of female enrolments varied at different levels of education 18.70 for PhD 57.4 for post graduation 11.8 for under graduation 40.8 for secondary and 13.4 for vocational training.

Beginning vocational education is made available to citizens in keeping with their interests, wishes and capabilities on the basis of basic and general secondary education provided in vocational lycées, vocational schools, special vocational schools and training complexes, centres and other educational institutions equivalent to them.

In 2003 2004 as many as 5798 female and 11 322 male students were acquiring secondary vocational education.

Formal education is delivered through a structured education system from pre primary to post secondary levels.

Women have also consolidated their majority in post secondary education (Figure 54).

Vocational training for graduates of special education institutions is based on a list of vocational training areas and specialties that correspond to those categories of students, and is performed in special schools or in conventional schools of the system of beginning vocational and secondary vocational education.

It therefore urges countries to ensure the widest and earliest possible access of girls and women to secondary and higher levels of education, as well as to vocational education and technical training.

These loans are granted to students to enable them to continue their post secondary education in Aruba or abroad.

As for vocational training, the jury is still out. But it has been identified as less profitable than general secondary education, making it an inferior investment option.

Vocational education now comes under the Ministry of National Education.

While half of our youth are in post secondary education, many without advanced education will face problems when entering a workforce where almost all jobs are now highly skilled.
