(b) How can primary producers' livelihoods be protected improved through South South cooperation?

Producers of primary commodities often suffer from the low prices paid to them.

But primary product prices remain much more volatile than the prices of manufactured goods and services, causing large fluctuations in producers incomes. This exaggerates the effects of booms and busts.

Can South South trade in semi processed goods for further processing, and in partially processed goods for processing into final agro industry related products, be translated into enhanced income to primary producers?

The users can be producers.

To paraphrase what many women farmers have said to me, We are the primary producers. But we receive very little for our hard work, because by the time our produce reaches the market, middlemen have taken the profit.

Small scale producers may also sell in markets.

However, producers with limited resources, especially rural women, receive only a minor share of formal agricultural credit even in countries where they are major producers.
