So despite the provocative title, this presentation is really about safety and about some simple things that we can do to raise our kids to be creative, confident and in control of the environment around them.

The population continues to be preoccupied with issues of health, clean production, normal working and residence conditions, and radiation safety in the environment. Accordingly, the Government plans to continue to provide financial resources to the affected areas.

Paragraph 5 of Article 9 of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants states that, for the purposes of the Convention, information on health and safety of humans and the environment shall not be regarded as confidential .

The objective of this regional conference was to have an open dialogue on the multi dimensions of agricultural biotechnology, particularly the use and role of this technology with respect to the environment, food safety, and trade and development.

Safety is a vital aspect of the Department of Safety and Security mandate.

The ILO recommendation 172 (http www.ilo.org ilolex cgi lex convde.pl?R172), contains recommendations on safety in the use of asbestos, including details on protective and preventative measures, surveillance of the working environment and workers' health, information and education measures.

The occupational health and safety requirements for the work of pregnant women and women who are breastfeeding have been established by the Government Regulation of 7 February 2001, with the aim of guaranteeing them a safe working environment.

The environment outlook reports, Atlantic and Indian Oceans Environment Outlook, Caribbean Environment Outlook and Pacific Environment Outlook, are available in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish as appropriate.

The potential impact of threats to maritime security on sea transportation, safety of navigation and the marine environment, as well as the threat posed to human lives and property, calls for effective countermeasures at the international, regional and bilateral levels.
