Performance contracts between members of the Senior Management Team and the Executive Director are proposed for implementation in 2005.

The Executive Director of UNIFEM and the Director of the Bureau for Development Policy (BDP) jointly chair the UNDP Senior Gender Task Force, and both are members of the Senior Management Team led by the Administrator.

The strategy paper prepared by the team was well received and supported by the Executive Board, the Executive Team and the HDRO statistical advisory panel.

Furthermore, we are confident that the experts of the CTC's Executive Directorate will carry out their tasks with sensitivity for human rights concerns, and we commend Executive Director Rupérez for the envisaged inclusion of a human rights expert on his team.

Several public information initiatives were launched to counter misinformation in the media, and a crisis communications team was mobilized, which included senior staff from my Office, the Spokesman's Office and the Department.

In terms of distribution by gender and by rank in normal activities, men account for the overwhelming proportion of senior positions (HA), which cover executive, policymaking, advisory and oversight positions.

Welcome the deployment of a Senior Human Rights Adviser to the United Nations Country Team in Suva to cover the Pacific Island States to assist in the strengthening of national human rights protection capacities

The country team in Cape Verde prepared the first ever common country programme document, which was approved by the Executive Boards of UNDP UNFPA, UNICEF and WFP in 2005.

If the gains made by the Executive Director are to be sustained, there is an urgent need to ensure that this senior manager is available full time to focus on the administrative infrastructure.
