In that connection, that delegation called for coordination between the Working Group on the Use of Nuclear Power Sources in Outer Space and the Working Group on Space Debris of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee with regard to matters relating to possible collision between space objects carrying nuclear power sources on board and space debris.

Kazakhstan was also working with the Russian Federation on space and aviation technology and remote sensing.

(c) Consider, through the Working Group on Space Debris to consider the issues arising from the workplan and, in particular, the space debris mitigation document of the Subcommittee.

The view was expressed that the IADC space debris mitigation guidelines could be endorsed by the Subcommittee as the technical background to the document on space debris mitigation being developed in the framework of the Working Group on Space Debris.

The Scientific and Technical Subcommittee had also continued its work on space debris, under a new workplan for the period 2005 to 2007, and the Working Group on Space Debris had finalized the first draft of a document on space debris mitigation.

The Working Group was informed of the practices followed by States in registering space objects and implementing the Registration Convention.

It had also re established the Working Group to consider matters relating to the definition and delimitation of outer space.

Pursuant to paragraph 17 of General Assembly resolution 59 116, the Subcommittee reconvened the Working Group on Space Debris to consider, as necessary, the proposals of the Inter Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee on space debris mitigation and any related comments that might be received.

The Working Group agreed that the Secretariat should prepare a list of all States that had launched objects into outer space.

The working paper sets out the fundamental elements of an international convention on the non proliferation of weapons in outer space and the use or threat of use of force against objects in outer space.

The Working Group agreed that international intergovernmental organizations should again be invited to submit information on their practices in registering space objects.

The Legal Subcommittee had established a new Working Group to examine the practice of States and international organizations in registering space objects.

Working more closely together would highlight the commonality of interests and the need for practical steps to prevent the weaponization of outer space.

Efforts such as the proposal to set working guidelines in dealing with space debris at the United Nations by June 2007 are considered vital.

To conduct a basic study on winged space vehicles, a multidisciplinary working group of researchers from all over the country has been organized at ISAS.

It also creates this incredibly interesting, I think, new amphibious public space, where you can imagine working, you can imagine recreating in a new way.

Question 10 was introduced by the Working Group on the Definition and Delimitation of Outer Space at the forty first session of the Legal Subcommittee.

The Subcommittee will resume its consideration of the item on Thursday, 2 March, in order to adopt the report of the Working Group on Space Debris.

It had reconvened its Working Group on the preliminary draft protocol on matters specific to space assets to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment.

Overall, the main preserve building at each site should be limited to the size needed for modest offices, working space and a small public visitor's center.

At its forty first session, the Subcommittee also established a Working Group on Space Debris to consider comments received from member States of the Committee on the proposals on space debris mitigation, presented by the Inter Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee (IADC) to the Subcommittee at its fortieth session, in 2003 (A AC.105 C.1 L.260).

At the 543rd meeting, on 14 June, the Chairman of the Working Group on the Use of Nuclear Power Sources in Outer Space, Sam Harbison (United Kingdom), reported on the progress made by the Working Group during the intersessional meetings.

The Working Group on the Use of Nuclear Power Sources in Outer Space had made significant progress in its work on issues relating to the establishment of an international, technically based framework of goals and recommendations for the safety of nuclear power sources in space.

China and Russia advocate the negotiation in the CD of an international legal instrument prohibiting the deployment of weapons in outer space and the use or threat of force against space objects. For this purpose, we tabled a working paper in document CD 1679.
