Third plenary session

I. Plenary session

The closing plenary meeting will be held this afternoon at 5.30 p.m. in the General Assembly Hall.

During the closing plenary meeting, all nine major groups were given an opportunity to provide final comments.

At its closing plenary, on 11 March 2005, the Commission adopted its agreed recommendations (see chapter I).

It authorized the Rapporteur to complete its report in the light of the proceedings of the closing plenary.

At its 170th (closing) plenary meeting, the Working Party adopted its draft report as contained in document TD B WP L.116, subject to amendments to the summaries of statements, and authorized the completion of the report taking into account the proceedings of the closing plenary.

C. Fifty sixth plenary session

That will be followed by closing remarks by the Co Chairpersons and the closure of the High level Plenary Meeting.

Rule 62 of the rules of procedure provides that, immediately after the opening of the 1st plenary meeting and immediately preceding the closing of the final plenary meeting of each session of the General Assembly, the President shall invite the representatives to observe one minute of silence dedicated to prayer or meditation.

The Chair has also incorporated factual comments that were made during the closing session.

At its 170th (closing) plenary meeting, on 15 September 2005, the Working Party approved a draft decision on agenda item 3 for submission to the Trade and Development Board at its fifty second session and adopted agreed conclusions on agenda item 4.

The Friday afternoon meeting will have 32 speaking slots since the last hour will be devoted to the closing of the High level Plenary Meeting.

At its closing plenary meeting, on 11 March 2005, the Commission adopted its draft report (TD B COM.2 L.21), subject to any amendments to the summaries of statements decided to include in its report the Chairperson's summaries on the substantive items and authorized the Rapporteur to finalize the report in the light of the proceedings of the closing plenary meeting.

At its closing plenary meeting, on 25 February 2005, the Commission adopted its agreed recommendations on agenda items 3, 4 and 5 (see chapter I above).

Since this is the last plenary meeting under the presidency of Nigeria, and as is the tradition, I would like to offer you my personal closing remarks.

The Co Chairperson (Sweden) I would like at this point to inform members of the programme of work for this closing meeting of the High level Plenary Meeting.

The U.S. Dollar Index, which measures the US against six major currencies, ended the day down 0.10 , falling to 96.479 at the closing session.

The Fifth Session of the 12th National People's Congress held its closing ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on March 15.
