The Section conducted drawdown or liquidation planning for the following UNTAES, UNPF, UNAVEM, MONUA, UNOMIL, UNMIH, UNSMIH, UNTMIH, UNPREDEP and MINUGUA.

The national personnel assumed responsibilities for field operations ahead of the effective drawdown of the Human Rights Section on 31 December 2004.

The Working Group agreed with the Secretariat s recommendation to reduce the rate for major equipment and self sustainment during the drawdown period.

During the period, the Mission commenced a faster pace of drawdown and withdrawal of the military force in accordance with the four stage modified status quo drawdown plan, as endorsed by the Council in its resolution 1492 (2003) of 18 July 2003, which envisaged a complete withdrawal of the peacekeeping troops by December 2004.
