14.21 The Office of the Executive Director provides executive and support services to the Executive Director and the Deputy Executive Director, as well as to the senior management of UNEP.

The Executive Secretaries fully support his assessment and follow up action.

The Executive Secretary shall manage and direct such staff and services and provide appropriate support and advice to the Executive Board.

The Office of the Chief Executive Officer comprises the Chief Executive Officer, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Legal Officer, the Special Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer, and conference support and administrative staff.

The Executive Director thanked the members of the Board for their support for her appointment as the fifth Executive Director of UNICEF.

The UNICEF biennial support budget is reviewed by the Executive Board every two years.

UNICEF agrees to submit a redefinition of programme support expenditure to its Executive Board.

Under this item, the Executive Board will have before it the estimates for the biennial support budget for 2006 2007, submitted by the Executive Director.

Support to the CDM Executive Board has evolved into a major activity of the secretariat.

The Executive Board, and the UNFCCC secretariat, in its mandated role of support to the Executive Board, may use electronic means for transmission and storage of documentation.

The Executive Board may wish to approve the estimates for the biennial support budget for 2006 2007.

(b) Requesting the Executive Director to undertake the support functions requested by Conference in relation to SAICM implementation

Support is provided to the CDM Executive Board, its panels and working groups, and the JI Supervisory Committee.

Report of the Executive Director Results achieved for children in 2004 in support of the medium term strategic plan

The Executive Board approves budgets for country programmes of cooperation and the support budget for financing from regular resources.

Requests the Executive Director to continue to support Member States in their efforts to combat violence against children and adolescents

29.30 Responsibility for providing backstopping support for the work of the internal oversight programme is vested in the Executive Office.

UNICEF and the other UNDG Executive Committee members are actively engaged in preparing suggestions for Resident Coordinator selection and support.

Requests the Executive Director to continue to support Member States in their efforts to combat violence against children and adolescents

Requests the Executive Director to monitor the ratio between the programme and the support budgets to ensure that support costs are not increased to the detriment of expenditure on programmes

Commends the Executive Secretary on the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding with UNOG on the use of funds from Programme Support to finance administrative operations and requests the Executive Secretary to keep this matter under review

The establishment of the Counter Terrorism Executive Directorate (CTED) provides a much needed infusion of resources to Secretariat support for the CTC.

The Deputy Executive Director thanked the Governments of Belgium, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom for their support.

Speakers expressed their continued support for the modified procedures for the consideration and approval of CPDs adopted by the Executive Board in 2002.

The Executive Secretary and the Deputy Executive Secretaries will constitute a core strategy group that will provide a more strategic approach to the secretariat's work in support of the Parties based on guidance provided by the COP and the COP MOP.

28. Decides to establish an Executive Office in the Department of Safety and Security consisting of 17 posts to handle its administrative support functions

In the meantime, the Executive Office of the Department of Management continues to provide some functional support to the Department of Safety and Security.

Accordingly, the High Commissioner has decided to place under the direct supervision of the Deputy High Commissioner all Office wide support functions falling under the budget components of executive direction and management and programme support.

Support to these complex specialized information systems will be provided by the Executive Office, given the fact that they fall outside the scope of the Information Technology Services Division of the Office of Central Support Services.

27.55 The Executive Office provides the administrative, managerial and programme support necessary for the implementation of the mandated activities of the Department of Public Information.

The Executive Secretary provides advice and support to the President and the Bureau of the COP and the COP MOP, and to other presiding officers.

Service level agreements with UNFPA for services (Executive Board support, legal services, Treasury, finance Comptroller and travel) were signed in the fourth quarter of 2004.

It further requested the Executive Director to make provision for activities to support developing countries and countries with economies in transition in implementing SAICM, taking into account the Bali Strategic Plan for Technology Support and Capacity building.

Through the allocation formula approved by the Executive Board, regular resources enable UNICEF to support national capacity development and advocate and leverage wider resources for children.

Additional recommendations of the Office included to accelerate the recruitment of a Deputy Executive Director in order to support the Executive Director in promoting the work of the Programme externally, administering the United Nations Habitat and Human Settlements Foundation and enhancing coordination among subprogrammes.

Ms. Bellamy thanked the Executive Board for its unstinting leadership and support during her tenure and expressed her gratitude for the excellent work of Youssouf Oomar, Assistant Secretary of the Executive Board, who would soon take up the post of UNICEF Representative in Côte d'Ivoire.

UNEP is expected to continue this central support role and, in February 2005, the Governing Council requested the Executive Director to make provision for SAICM implementation activities.

A unitary board is comprised of executive and non executive directors.

5.1 The Deputy Executive Secretary is accountable to the Executive Secretary.

The Executive Board may, therefore, take into consideration the comments of the Committee while taking a decision on reclassifications proposed in the support budget proposal for 2006 2007.

The security requirements for 2006 2007 would be included in the support budget that would be submitted to the Executive Board at the first regular session of 2006.
