C. Environmental impact assessment

Several reports point out that desertification assessment should be part of overall ecosystem assessment, on the basis of appropriate methodologies and suitable indicators.

Common methodological problems in impact assessment were lack or inadequacy of local, specific environmental and socio economic data and methodologies lack of methodologies for integrated and socio economic assessments and lack of understanding of the magnitude of climate change impacts on water resources, human health, fisheries, coral reefs, some local ecosystems, etc.
