In the context of a global marketplace, choice of law issues have increased for industrial property rights.

WIPO is also proposing new international norms in the fields of industrial property, copyright and neighbouring rights.

However, aboriginal title is often subject to the illegitimate assumption of State power to extinguish such title, in contrast to the legal protection and rights that, in most countries, protect the land and property of citizens.

Nevertheless, Malaysia supported the proposal to extend the protection provided under that article to cover industrial secrets and intellectual property.

The Institute is thus the body responsible for verifying compliance with the Industrial Property Act and other national and international norms.
