The Supreme Audit Institution should ensure that it has access to internal auditor reports, related working papers and audit resolution information.

Security Information

The Audit Services Branch of UNFPA requested country offices to submit the required information.

(ii) Audit of the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) contract cost (resolution 52 227)

In the third quarter of 2005, the UNFPA Audit Services Branch performed an audit of the conversion of data from the integrated management information system (IMIS) to Atlas.

The Audit Services Branch will also attempt to provide this information for the 2004 project audits.

95. During the reporting period, OIOS conducted a management audit of the Security and Safety Service.

The OIOS audit considered information from available records and interviews with UNHCR personnel as well as relevant information on Lysol and similar products.

Expressing approval for the comprehensive risk assessment exercise, delegations requested detailed information on measures to implement audit recommendations in country offices, and pointed to the need for an audit tracking system and for training national staff in international audit standards.

The Department of Safety and Security and the Department of Peacekeeping Operations had accepted all 20 recommendations resulting from the global security management audit.

Information management and information security are two aspects of the information age that have major implications for international peace, security and disarmament.

As at 11 February 2005, 72 per cent of offices had included the information in their audit plans.

I.13 The Advisory Committee requested information concerning the resources spent on outside expertise relating to audit assignments.

The Audit Operations Committee had also exchanged information on issues of mutual interest with the Joint Inspection Unit.

An audit of ESCAP technology management disclosed that security, disaster planning and disaster recovery needed to be strengthened.

Implementation is pending approval of the two additional information technology auditor posts requested by the Office, and the preparation of an audit strategy for information technology.

Most audit recommendations were aimed at improving programme and project management, financial management and information and communications technology systems.

The audit also identified several specific steps to be taken to improve the qualifications of security officers and to achieve stricter security enforcement and a stronger commitment to security at all levels.

UNICEF will support the rapid expansion of internal audit coverage of headquarters divisions, including in the area of information technology.

The new policy required that every audit assignment result in a final audit communication, normally an audit report.

Chile attaches great importance to information security in the context of international security.

Linked to the revised audit certification requirements, UNHCR is establishing a comprehensive NGO database which will include financial information about the NGOs, in particular their ability to comply with UNHCR apos s reporting and audit requirements.

This includes the application of security technologies, security policies, regulations, standards and information security education and training.
