The LDC Group believed that international trade could contribute to sustained economic growth but needed international support to achieve this.

(e) Noted with concern that a technical expert group was no longer being convened to assist in the revision process of the International Standard Classification of Occupations and, while noting the alternative mechanism employed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) through the use of the Expert Group on International Economic and Social Classifications, still urged the International Labour Organization to establish such a group.

CIDSE joined the International Facilitating Group on Financing for Development (IFG) and was instrumental in the creation of the CONCORD1 Working Group on FfD.

Other recommendations by the Expert Group on International Economic and Social Classifications for future work in the family of international classifications

Supports the establishment of the International Working Group at a ministerial level and the Mediation Group, which should both be co chaired by the Special Representative of the Secretary General, urges the international working group to meet as soon as possible, and affirms that the secretariat of the international working group shall be coordinated by the United Nations, in accordance with paragraph 10, article (vi) of the decision of the Peace and Security Council

In mid October 2004, the Monitoring Group held meetings with International Maritime Organization officials at the International Maritime Organization headquarters in London.

It liaises with multinational and national regulatory bodies and with other international institutions, such as the Group of Thirty and INSOL International.
