All remaining suspense items have been investigated and addressed for year end closure. An updated inventory of non expendable property at headquarters has been compiled.

As at 31 December 2004, the physical inventory for non expendable property of the Office of Programme Planning, Budget and Accounts no longer contained any items of nil value.

In paragraph 60 of its report, the Board recommended that UNICEF (a) issue a new instruction on non expendable property, (b) investigate all remaining suspense items and (c) update its inventory lists.

To accelerate the redeployment rate, the inventory levels of long lead time items will need to be increased and the stocking of short lead time items reduced appropriately.

The UNEP Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific has been advised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) that an inventory of UNEP group items will be undertaken in August and September 2006 and that the situation in the UNEP Regional Office for Africa is being addressed as part of the UNEP headquarters wide inventory management.

All 36 inventory review reports were completed on time, or within one week of the due dates established in the inventory review guidelines.

The budget also foresees a reduction on non post items, such as travel and General Temporary Assistance, resulting from efforts to streamline our processes.
