Islam, the official religion, and other religions and faiths, coexist in a tolerant environment.

According to the country's Political Constitution, Nicaragua is an independent, free, sovereign, unitary and indivisible State, with no official religion.

120. With regard to Aboriginals, the official policy of reconciliation should be pursued and further strengthened in the area of religion.
