In its direct request of 2004, the Committee noted from the country brief prepared by the ILO Office for the World Employment Report that labour force participation rates for 1999 were 66.3 per cent for men and 65.9 per cent for women, with much higher rates in rural areas.

In 2003, the Territory received 109,282 visitors, 52 per cent of whom came from the United States, 5 per cent from the United Kingdom and 4 per cent from Canada.

Mozambique more than doubled, from 16 per cent to 35 per cent.

Between 1991 01, population growth rates came down from 3 per cent per annum to 2.2 per cent.

Average malnutrition rates have dropped since last year, from 21.8 per cent to 11.9 per cent this year, with severe malnutrition rates dropping to 1.4 per cent, down from 3.9 per cent in 2004.

Currently, 35 per cent of the cases are at Headquarters, with 44 per cent coming from offices outside New York and 21 per cent from peacekeeping missions.

On a regional basis, of those countries which reported in both the second and the third cycle on the establishment of a central anti money laundering unit, Africa showed a dramatic increase, from 27 per cent to 73 per cent the Americas increased from 87 per cent to 93 per cent Oceania remained the same at 100 per cent Asia declined from 50 per cent to 41 per cent and Europe also declined slightly, from 96 per cent to 92 per cent (see figure VIII).

Funding for basic research activities has decreased, with fluctuations, since 1995, from 18 per cent to 14 per cent in 2003, up from 10 per cent in 2002.

Changes were made in 2005 as per the request of the Board of Auditors as stated in note 2.2 (a) of the financial statements.

With incubator support, this rate jumps from 80 per cent to 85 per cent.

While the share of private and public consumption in GDP increased from 117 per cent in 1999 to 134 per cent in 2004, the share of total investment dropped from 43 per cent to 27 per cent.

We are extremely concerned to note that, of the professional staff, an overwhelming 70 per cent come from Western countries, with only 12 per cent from Africa and a paltry 3 per cent from Asia.

On the other hand, men's participation in agriculture decreased from 75.9 per cent to 60 per cent, while the biggest increase in their share (from 9.6 per cent to 20.1 per cent) was observed in the services sector.

On a regional basis, of those 72 States replying in both the second and the third reporting periods as to whether money laundering was an extraditable offence, the Americas showed an increase from 80 per cent to 87 per cent Asia and Oceania remained stable at 61 per cent and 100 per cent, respectively Africa declined from 73 per cent to 64 per cent and Europe declined from 96 per cent to 88 per cent (see figure V).

On a regional basis, of the countries reporting for both the second and third periods on putting into practice the know your client principle, Africa showed a significant increase, from 46 per cent to 64 per cent Asia increased from 50 per cent to 53 per cent the Americas remained stable at 93 per cent Oceania (two countries) remained stable at 100 per cent while Europe declined from 96 per cent to 92 per cent (see figure VII).

Thus, trafficking through Pakistan had declined from 37 per cent in 2004 to 20 per cent in 2005, and through the Central Asian republics, from 24 to 19 per cent, but it had jumped from 40 to 61 per cent through the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the period from 1995 to 2004, social spending rose from 3.2 per cent to approximately 5 per cent of GDP. On the other hand, military spending has been reduced by more than half (from 1 per cent to 0.42 per cent during the same period).

From now on we count per capita.

Singapore's OFDI to Malaysia declined from 60 per cent in 1981 to 17 per cent in 1996 and 8 per cent in 2003.

A comparison between the WHO mortality study undertaken last year and the early figures from the study concluded in June 2005 shows that the mortality rate in Northern Darfur dropped from 1.5 to 0.8 deaths per 10,000 per day and in Southern Darfur from 2.7 to 0.8 deaths per 10,000 per day the preliminary results for Western Darfur suggest that the mortality rate decreased from 2.9 to 0.7 per 10,000 per day.

By 2003, owing largely to the increase in outreach and communications efforts with staff outside Headquarters, cases were distributed more evenly, with 35 per cent coming from Headquarters, 38 per cent from offices away from Headquarters and 27 per cent from peacekeeping missions.

Europe showed a small decline, from 100 per cent to 96 per cent (see figure II).

The poverty rate rose from 62 per cent in 1992 to 75 per cent in 2003.

Rwanda's proportion has climbed from 17 per cent before the conflict to 49 per cent today.

Infant mortality rates have dropped significantly from 16.8 per 1,000 to the current 13 per 1,000.

The literacy rate rose from 74.8 per cent to 82.2 per cent between 1989 and 2002.

During the period from 1987 to 2002, the rate of chronic malnutrition declined from 58 per cent to 49 per cent. However, the progress was concentrated in the non indigenous population, among whom the rate declined from 48 per cent in 1987 to 36 per cent in 2002.

Poverty has dropped from 57.5 per cent to 40.2 per cent and absolute poverty rates have come down from 27.5 per cent in 2003 to 15 percent in 2004 and continue to decline.

In the rural part of the Pacific region, female headship went down among non poor households (from 19.5 per cent to 17.5 per cent), while it increased among poor households, particularly among the extremely poor (from 22.6 per cent to 27.0 per cent).

4. According to government figures, from 1993 to 1998, per capita income declined from 991 to 457 the infant mortality rate increased from 14 to 24 per 1,000 live births and the under five mortality rate from 27 to 50 per 1,000 live births.

Poverty in Madagascar was reduced from 80 per cent in 2002 to 74 per cent in 2004.

In 2004, the economy grew by 4.3 per cent, up from 2.8 per cent the previous year.

However, the percentage of recommendations not implemented has increased from 7 per cent to 9 per cent.

On a regional basis, the percentages of the 72 countries reporting in both the second and third reporting periods having adopted measures for reporting suspicious or unusual transactions were the Americas increased from 93 per cent to 100 per cent and Asia also increased, from 56 per cent to 67 per cent Africa remained stable at 73 per cent for both periods Oceania remained stable at 100 per cent for both periods and Europe declined from 100 per cent to 96 per cent (see figure VI).

But from now on, we count per capita.

Consistent with the call by the Conference for integration of services, funding for basic reproductive health services increased, with fluctuations, from 18 per cent in 1995 to 25 per cent in 2003, up from 24 per cent in 2002, while explicit funding for family planning services decreased, with fluctuations, from 55 to 13 per cent during the same period, down from 23 per cent in 2002 (figure IV).

Unemployment dropped from 24 per cent in 2003 to 12.1 per cent over the first half of 2005.

To reduce the infant mortality rate from 132 per thousand to 70 per thousand by the year 2010.

To reduce the maternal mortality rate from 6.6 per thousand to 3.5 per thousand by the year 2010.

Pregnancy monitoring through prenatal checkups rose from 57 per cent in 2000 to 65 per cent in 2001.

Of the 371 recorded deaths from AIDS, 79 per cent were men and 24 per cent were women.
