Total income in 1994 1995 included 119,619,570 of voluntary contributions, 9,295,111 of interest income and 2,492,291 of public donations and other income (A 51 5 Add.9, Statement II). This comprised 38,026,165 of general purpose contributions and 93,380,807 of special purpose contributions.

(b) Voluntary contributions from Governments receivable. The following table is an aged analysis of the pledged contributions unpaid (in thousands of United States dollars) included in statement II at 31 December 1997.

The voluntary contributions receivable balance in Statement II represents contributions outstanding from donors after year end currency revaluation, the details of which are reflected in Schedule 1 for 2004 and Schedule 2 for prior years. The ageing of contributions receivable is as follows

(v) The assessed contributions receivable shown in statement V exclude 16.6 million in unpaid assessed contributions to the regular budget by China for the period up to 24 October 1971.

2. The amount of 356,759 shown in statement I was paid by Governments and various donors as contributions to the General Fund for 1997 and payment of outstanding pledges.

We expressed approval of them in our statement, and we believe that with the support and the contributions of countries Members of the United Nations system, those mechanisms can be implemented effectively.

The ad hoc account for UNOC (statement XXX) and the accounts of the special account of the United Nations Emergency Force (1956) (statement XXXI) remain open because various liabilities incurred cannot be discharged since a number of Member States have not paid their outstanding assessed contributions for these operations.

The financial statement as at 31 December 1995 reflected this adjustment as a net payable to Member States, whereas there are several outstanding contributions unpaid, even after application of credits.
