A Policies and Procedures Manual maintenance unit within the Technical and Policy Division was created to ensure necessary follow up.

The Division has provided technical support to a number of countries, with a particular emphasis on coordination, protection and return issues.

The Division should further develop technical cooperation programmes for providing assistance to States desiring to elaborate and implement anti corruption programmes.

Finally, the Division provides technical assistance to requesting States for the ratification and implementation of the 13 universal instruments related to terrorism.

On the technical side, the Statistics Division developed web services for data transfers by applying Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX) standards.

It expresses its appreciation for the advice and technical support given to the Lebanese authorities by the United Nations Electoral Assistance Division.

38. Management of the intercountry programme now lies with the UNFPA technical division and the new programme will be monitored by technical experts to see if the new programming process yields the expected improvements.

The Division has a portfolio of technical cooperation activities of over 150 projects in 61 developing countries and countries with economies in transition.

The Division also provides technical and substantive servicing of related follow up work for the Economic and Social Council and the General Assembly.

Following that, the Chief, HIV AIDS Branch, Technical Support Division, UNFPA, and the Director, HIV AIDS Group, BDP, UNDP, made a joint presentation.

Instead, social scientists with a specialization in communication for development are spread across the three branches of the new Technical and Policy Division.

36. UNDP plays an important role in providing technical support and assistance to electoral processes in close consultation with the Electoral Assistance Division.

In order to use its resources effectively and to take advantage of the close link between its ongoing methodological work and technical cooperation projects, the Division makes technical advisory services, workshops and fellowships mutually supportive.

The various modalities for implementing the technical cooperation provided by the advisory services of the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Division were examined, and the technical assistance and substantive support so far provided were commended.

To this end, the Division is asked to analyse technical aspects of children travelling across borders and identify cases of illicit trafficking in children.

The Education, Communication and Youth Branch, which formerly served as focal point for communication in the former Technical and Evaluation Division, no longer exists.

The Technical Co operation Division of the IMO Secretariat is responsible for the delivery of the security related activities foreseen in the technical co operation programme (ITCP) of the IMO which is approved by the Assembly based on the recommendations of the Technical Co operation Committee.
