9.3 As to the claim, that the negative effects of the proposed logging in Kippalrova would interfere with their rights under article 27, the Committee recognizes the commitment of the State party, expressed in its submission on the merits, not to proceed to logging in this area and therefore finds it unnecessary to consider the possibility of future logging, by the State, in this area any further.

The Asian Group also stressed its interest in the work on investor State dispute settlement and the activities of WAIPA and UNCTAD in the area of investment promotion.

It may also have been designed to discourage CIAT, which was in Bunia as part of its efforts to ensure the extension of State administration to the area.

The report surveys recent examples of State practice in the area of diplomatic assurances by Germany, the United States of America, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Canada.
