A child who is enrolled in a basic school, upper secondary school or vocational school which operates on the basis of basic education has the right to receive family benefits until he or she attains 19 years of age.

The aim of getting as many girls as boys to enrol in school and complete good, quality basic education has remained constant, as part of the global drive to achieve Education for All (EFA) among children.

The Government has also established non formal basic education schools (NFBE).
