Under the terms of the Liquidation Manual (June 2003), an exit strategy and liquidation plan should drive the liquidation process in respect of missions.

These requirements for the completion of the liquidation tasks were estimated at 1,199,200 gross ( 1,070,300 net) and could be met from the preliminary unencumbered balance for the period ending 30 June 1997.

The General Assembly has been advised of the importance of an appropriate level of liquidation staff in the mission area to enable completion of all the tasks locally rather than bringing incomplete tasks to Headquarters.

This reduction in liquidation timescales translates directly into significant savings in liquidation budgets.
