Asian African Legal Consultative Organization (General Assembly resolution 35 2)

XVII of 1998 containing the Indonesian Human Rights Charter, which had been promulgated by the People's Consultative Assembly.

Recommends that the General Assembly examine and take action on the recommendations of the Consultative Committee contained in its report.

Taking note also of the outcome of the first meeting of the United Nations open ended informal consultative process ( the Consultative Process ),See A 55 274. established by the General Assembly in its resolution 54 33 in order to facilitate the annual review by the Assembly of developments in ocean affairs,

The Assembly should therefore give the working group a consultative aspect in order to continue to address this complex and political issue.

Taking note also of the report on the work of the United Nations Open ended Informal Consultative Process ( the Consultative Process ) established by the General Assembly in its resolution 54 33 in order to facilitate the annual review by the Assembly of developments in ocean affairs at its second meeting,See A 56 121.

It is only appropriate, therefore, that the Assembly should decide to extend the Informal Consultative Process for at least a further three years.

Consultative process

We believe that one key area is strengthening the role of the General Assembly as the primary consultative and representative body of the United Nations.

All officials, including the Leader, President and members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, city and village councils are elected through the vote of the citizens.

One delegation suggested convening meetings of the Consultative Process later in the year, shortly before the consideration by the General Assembly of the agenda item Oceans and the law of the sea , so that the Consultative Process could facilitate the preparation of the draft resolution.

Taking note also of the report on the work of the United Nations Open ended Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and the Law of the Sea ( the Consultative Process ), established by the General Assembly in its resolution 54 33 in order to facilitate the annual review by the Assembly of developments in ocean affairs, at its fourth meeting,See A 58 95.

It is recalled that the General Assembly, in resolution 57 141 of 12 December 2002, extended the Consultative Process for a further period of three years.

Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 54 33 of 24 November 1999, the two co chairpersons appointed by the President of the General Assembly shall elaborate, in consultation with delegations, a format for the discussions at the United Nations Open ended Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and the Law of the Sea (the Consultative Process) that best facilitates its work, in accordance with the rules of procedure and practices of the General Assembly.

In the Parliament and People's Consultative Assembly, there were decreases in the number of women members, despite the fact that 57 percent of the voters were women.

The project forms part of a wider consultative process to ascertain the views of States in line with General Assembly resolution 58 241 of 23 December 2003.

The General Assembly recommends in its draft omnibus resolution that the Consultative Process should, at its next meeting, focus its discussions on the topic Ecosystem approaches and oceans .
