Ms. Akşit (Turkey) reiterated that in order to increase employment of women, the Directorate General for the Status and Problems of Women had prioritized the promotion of employment for women and, upon recommendation of the Directorate General, the Prime Minister's office had issued its circular on non discrimination in job advertisements.

In economic development there are at least seven gender issues, namely limited employment opportunities for women  limited access by women to economic resources  unpaid employment of women in family enterprises low rate of participation by women in the labor market concentration of women in low income menial jobs discrimination against women workers in recruitment and promotion  and inadequate protection of women workers.
