EDF European Development Fund

In 2004, the Territory received 13.75 million from the European Development Fund.

They include, inter alia, the World Bank's Prototype Carbon Fund, the Bank's Community Development Carbon Fund, and the Multilateral Carbon Credit Fund of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Contributions to other multilateral institutions were also identified in four of these national communications (FIN Nordic Development Fund, European Community) (ISL Nordic Environment Finance Corporation) (BEL, NZL International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)).

Over a three year period, 67 per cent of the borrowing will be repaid from the European Development Fund allotment.

Only 4 of public development assistance is now earmarked for agriculture. The European Commission and EU member states are therefore planning to increase their assistance, both through the European Development Fund and by developing new sources of financial support.

This being said, the projects financed through the European Development Fund require close cooperation with the Haitian authorities, who must implement those projects.

The visits were supported by the United Nations Trust Fund for Peacebuilding in Somalia, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the European Commission.

The European Community, a member of the Common Fund, had never announced its withdrawal from the Fund.

In addition, 48.7 million euros were committed in 2003 alone, from the European Development Fund, to support small arms and light weapons projects in Africa.

According to information provided by the administering Power, the British Government worked with the Pitcairn Island Government throughout 2003 to prepare the planning framework for the release of money from the European Union's European Development Fund.

Furthermore, in the opinions of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme and many other bilateral and multilateral development partners, the Niger is well managed.

Thus, the agricultural institutions working in rural development, in an attempt to facilitate rural funding, has been creating alternative sources of funding such as Agricultural and Rural Development Fund (FFADR), Fisheries Development Fund (FFP), Small Industry Development Fund (FFPI), Fund for Agricultural Credit and Rural Development (CCADR), etc.
