The control and supervisory functions in the financial sector should be reinforced through increased cooperation between national and international supervisory authorities.

Following agreement on a final text, supervisory authorities throughout the world would be encouraged to give their formal endorsement of the core principles as a basic reference for all supervisory and other concerned public authorities.
