At its fifty ninth session, the General Assembly invited the Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity to continue reporting to it on the ongoing work regarding the Convention, including its Cartagena Protocol (resolution 59 236).

The UNDG Executive Committee has agreed on ways of strengthening the role of resident coordinators, including giving them both authority over the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) results matrix, and responsibility for reporting on achievement of those results.
