United Nations and associated personnel continue to face serious threats to their security including hostage taking, physical assault and robbery  as they carry out their duties around the world.

The increase in hostage taking and kidnappings during the reporting period is particularly disturbing, and Member States are called upon to take all necessary action to bring justice to the victims.
