Challenges and management objectives

A cooperative management programme brings the interested parties together to collaborate in establishing agreed management objectives and practices.

While integrated water resource management provides an integrated framework for addressing water issues, countries will want to tailor integrated water resources management plans to their own particular water management needs and objectives.

The Secretariat noted that, with the recent introduction of results based management, divisions would have objectives work plans that could be cascaded down to staff members as individual objectives.

There is broad awareness that including women in programmes is necessary for the achievement of natural resource management objectives.

Objective 1. Promote responsible and sustainable management by combining operational performance objectives, personal development for staff and attention to durability.

The Administration should address the structural and management weaknesses identified by the Board in the area of human resources management in order to achieve the objectives identified by the General Assembly.

To address the above mentioned challenges, the Fund's management has set the following objectives to be met during the 2006 2007 biennium

The objectives and motivation of decentralization vary, but can include efficiency, local development, improved forest management, empowerment of local people, equity, and environmental security.

The Management Performance Board will have an important role in ensuring that those objectives are met (see annex, action items 3 and 12 15).

We believe that the effective, efficient, timely and transparent management of human, material and economic resources will ensure that our assistance attains its objectives.

The activities will serve to implement ITTO's objectives and thus contribute to the realisation of the global benefits arising from the promotion of sustainable forest management.

(b) Encouraging the integration of the sound management of chemicals into national development planning, taking into account the commitments and objectives expressed by SAICM in this regard.

The general objectives of the meeting were to strengthen regional cooperation in the management of land resources and to support the implementation of the UNCCD in the region.

The work of the Forum, and the objectives of sustainable forest management, are inextricably linked to sustainable consumption and the production of timber and non timber forest products.

(a) To strengthen political commitment and action at all levels to implement effectively sustainable management of all types of forests and to achieve the shared global objectives on forests

Setting clear objectives for international forest policy and linking sustainable forest management more closely to the internationally agreed development goals are avenues that warrant careful consideration at the Forum.

The Expert Group proposes a new process to facilitate the provision of advice concerning capacity building for the sound management of chemicals at the country level, in support of SAICM objectives.

The term RBM describes a holistic management system used by an organization to ensure that (a) all its activities contribute towards the achievement of its strategic objectives and (b) that results of activities are systematically assessed against objectives and target indicators as a means of continually improving strategy, performance and productivity.

It is anticipated that Governments and other stakeholders will adopt flexible programmes to build and sustain adequate and comprehensive capabilities for the sound management of chemicals consistent with the Strategic Approach objectives.

Specific functions In order to meet the objectives and perform the general functions described above, each Party included in Annex I shall undertake specific functions related to inventory planning, preparation and management.8

Even before the decision to make land degradation a focal area, the GEF informed on assistance provided to African countries in meeting the biodiversity conservation and climate change objectives through dryland management projects.

Future sessions of the Programme Management Training (conducted seven times per year and focusing on programme staff) will give renewed attention to the establishment of objectives and indicators which meet the SMART criteria.
