The High level Panel of Eminent Persons has reconfirmed the interrelationship between development, human rights, peace and security.

The Special Rapporteur continues to work in cooperation with Governments, civil society organizations and organizations of persons with disabilities, as well as with the panel of experts representing organizations of persons with disabilities.

With regard to NEPAD's African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), the panel of eminent persons making up this programme has already been identified.

In response to the calls for reform, I have appointed a panel of eminent persons to make recommendations on strengthening the effectiveness of the OSCE.

Here, I wish to refer to last year's report of the Panel of Eminent Persons on United Nations Civil Society Relations (A 58 817), chaired by former Brazilian President Cardoso.

The forthcoming General Assembly, for which preparations are in progress, will focus on the recommendations of the Panel of Eminent Persons on United Nations Civil Society Relations (the Cardoso report ).

The co chairpersons will invite persons entitled to participate in each discussion panel to launch the discussions by making short presentations on questions relevant to its area of focus.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA This week, the 27 members of the High level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post 2015 Development Agenda gather in Monrovia, Liberia, to advise United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki moon. At the meeting, the Panel will establish a bold yet practical vision for joint action on sustainable development.

He cooperated with the Panel and provided all records the Panel requested. LPRC was one of the very few organizations that submitted full and complete information to the Panel.

And, although we welcome the reform initiatives and the report of the panel of eminent persons, we believe it is very important that new activities not be undertaken at the expense of the very important human rights and democracy building functions.

This obstacle was assessed in detail in the report of the Panel of Eminent Persons on United Nations Civil Society Relations (see A 58 817 and Corr.1) and recommendations for reform were made to the General Assembly (see sect. VII thereof).

As the Special Rapporteur on Disability, I would not be able to fulfil the responsibilities entrusted to me by the Commission on Social Development without the help, cooperation, advice and counsel of organizations of persons with disabilities and the Panel of Experts representing those organizations.
