They include provision for civilian personnel costs of 2,687,800, and 2,329,600 for operational costs.

Provision is made for 908 contingent personnel at 4.99 per person per day for 365 days ( 1,653,800).

Additionally, provision of 135,000 is made for the deployment of commercially leased armoured personnel carriers.

Provision is made for one round trip rotation for 775 contingent personnel and two round trip rotations for 133 support personnel at the rate of 1,400 per round trip.

In addition, provision is made for protective clothing for civilian personnel as follows (a) two pairs of footwear for 25 personnel at 52 per pair per person ( 2,600) and (b) two winter coveralls for 50 personnel at 30 per person ( 3,000).

The provision was based on the original operational requirement to replace 40 medical support personnel by 15 military medical personnel by 1 October 1996.

32. The Ottawa Convention on Anti Personnel Mines contains extensive provision for information gathering, fact finding, transparency measures and compliance of procedures.

Provision is made for the requirements of additional civilian personnel at an average cost of 28 per person month for a period of 7.5 months.

Provision is made for the hiring of personnel for the dismantling of observation posts and base camps at a monthly cost of 20,000, for the months of July and August 1998.

The strategy involved personnel augmentation and provision of adequate logistical support, mobility and communication for areas where the balance of lands to be distributed remained high.

This activity also covers the provision of residency visas and other host country related tasks for government provided personnel serving with the United Nations at Headquarters.

5. Budget item 2, civilian personnel costs, shows savings in the amount of 16,497,400, from a provision of 110,365,000.

The cluster also performs a variety of personnel functions pertaining to provision of advice, counselling and training to DPKO personnel dealing with appeals and disciplinary cases, termination and welfare issues.

38. Provision for other staff costs for the Office of the Prosecutor in 1999 amounts to 1,817,000, comprising 72,000 for overtime requirements of General Service personnel and 1,745,000 under general temporary assistance.

Provision for military contingents is based on the deployment of 1,230 contingent personnel as at 15 April 1998 and on the assumption that the authorized strength of 1,350 personnel of all ranks would be attained by 15 May 1998.

Additional provision is made for subscription to international newspapers, magazines and Internet news services at a monthly cost of 600 owing to the increase in personnel ( 3,600).
