A new tax code was adopted, with lower and fewer taxes, notably a flat income tax of 13 . The civil code was completed, a new customs code was enacted, and substantial judicial reform was implemented.

Those provisions have been incorporated into the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The Code of Criminal Procedure provides for special regulation for collecting evidence.

Concerning the Code of Criminal Procedure, bank secrecy may not be invoked before a court.

(c) The new draft federal code of criminal procedure on the rights of persons detained in police custody that prohibits incommunicado detention (mise au secret)

According to the Code of Criminal Procedure, an investigative body or a Prosecutor's Office commences criminal proceedings if there is reason and grounds for it.

A new section, 174 A, was added to the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, in 2001 which is specifically directed at curbing dowry related violence.
