35. The Zero Emissions Research Initiative (UNU ZERI) held its third World Congress on Zero Emissions in Jakarta in July.

Zero emissions initiatives aim to promote waste free manufacturing processes.

And this is a huge, huge energy savings, because what comes out of our tailpipe is really just the beginning of the story with climate emissions from cars.

In April 1995, the University organized the first World Congress on Zero Emissions.

The Second Japanese Regional Zero Emissions Network Conference was held at UNU headquarters in October.

23. During the reporting period, the Zero Emissions Research Initiative held its second and third world congresses on zero emissions the second took place at Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States in 1996, and the third at Jakarta in 1997.

70. Closely related to the improvement of industrial efficiency is the UNU project on minimizing emissions, known by the acronym ZERI (for Zero Emissions Research Initiative).

In the longer term, it is hoped that carbon capture and sequestration will lead to zero emissions fossil fuel energy systems.

The organizations have also agreed to create the first UNU UNESCO Zero Emissions Research Professorship to be located at the University of Namibia in Windhoek.

They agreed to work towards increasing the productivity of natural resources and to have scientists worldwide share their new zero emissions innovations, among other things.

But if we think differently, I think that, in fact, we can have cities that are not only zero emissions, but have unlimited possibilities as well.

The Congress brought together business leaders, scientists and policy makers to discuss the efficacy of the zero emissions standard and to learn more about the UNU initiative.

Clearly, a policy of reducing CO2 emissions would have had zero consequence on Katrina s devastating impact on New Orleans, where such a disaster was long expected. Over the next half century, even large reductions in CO2 emissions would have only a negligible impact.

Electric cars also fail to live up to their environmental billing. They are often sold as zero emissions vehicles, but that is true only when they are moving.

The two numbers are zero as in zero footprint or zero oil and scale it infinity.

It's about zero sum and non zero sum games.

A number of these events attracted wide media attention notable among them was the first World Congress on Zero Emissions, held at UNU headquarters on 6 and 7 April 1995.

36. UNU and the Government of Namibia began work on the concept and practice of zero emissions in Africa under the UNU UNESCO chair agreement that was signed in 1996.
