In connection with its decision to adopt the budget, the Council considered the necessary budget authorizations which might be required by the Rector to ensure the achievement of the objectives and to meet the defined priorities of the University as agreed by the Council.

Draft resolution II (A to C), entitled Programme budget for the biennium 1998 1999 , was adopted by the Fifth Committee. May I take it that the Assembly too wishes to adopt the draft resolution?

We will therefore seek to adopt an appropriate budget for 2006 07 that will enable the United Nations to deliver meaningful results in all its activities, including new mandates agreed by the summit.
