Costs for common support services are estimated at 10,400.

The Common Services Management System is a result tracking and management system developed specifically for inter agency common services arrangements, enabling country teams, regional teams, Regional Director teams, UNDGO and the UNDG Management Group to monitor individual country common services arrangements, using both quantitative and qualitative indicators.

The Common Services Expansion Programme aims at having United Nations staff in 130 countries using common services guidelines and a new results tracking system (RTS) by the end of 2005.

1.200 Common Services comprises Commissioner General's Office, Legal Services, Audit and Inspection, External Relations, Public Information, Policy Analysis, New York and Geneva Liaison Offices, Administration and Human Resources, and Financial Services.

If this strategy for reorganizing common services at Geneva is implemented, then three procurement services (one at each of the centres) should ultimately replace the numerous services now operating at Geneva.

Since its global roll out in November 2004, the common services programme has intervened in 44 of 130 targeted countries.

A Task Force on common services was established in 2001 and includes procurement as one of its areas of work.

In regard to operative paragraph 18 of the draft resolution, it is estimated that meeting services and interpretation services in all six languages for up to two panel discussions would cost 21,900, and common support services are estimated at 5,200.

Moreover, significant progress had been made by the various organizations towards more collaborative procurement and common services arrangements as well as outsourcing of goods and services to organizations with the necessary expertise.

In some places, local people derive income from ecosystem services, such as ecotourism or environmental protection, but this is not common.
