With financial support from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the UNDP Russian Federation office is helping to establish a business promotion centre and microcredit facility in the Bryansk oblast.

Noting the completion in 2006 of the transfer of responsibility for the coordination of Chernobyl efforts from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs of the Secretariat to the United Nations Development Programme,

In line with this new strategy for recovery, responsibility for coordination of Chernobyl issues across the United Nations system was shifted in 2004 from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs to UNDP.

OIOS believes that this disruption and loss of institutional memory was caused by a lack of proper handover during the absorption of the Coordination Unit's functions by the Office of Policy and Programme Coordination.

The ethics office will develop working relationships with other offices and departments, including the Office of Internal Oversight Services, the Office of Human Resources Management, the Office of Legal Affairs and the Office of the Ombudsman, to ensure satisfactory coordination, consistent advice on law and policy and the making of appropriate referrals and or recommendations.

To that end, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has commissioned a review of the international humanitarian response system.

I commend the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and Mr. Egeland for the active role that they have played.

Those units work in close coordination with the regional advisers for disaster reduction of the UNDP Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs regional disaster response advisers.

Subsequently, the coordination function of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs disappeared, and while keeping the same title, the officer was now advising not only the humanitarian coordinator but also the military component.
