Application of this amount brought to 16,135,838 the total amount of outstanding assessed contributions for the former Yugoslavia.

This exceeds the amount outstanding at 30 September 2004 by over 14 million.

The interest is calculated on monthly basis from the remaining outstanding loan amount.

The amount still outstanding from the United States, however, stands at 1,280 million.

The staff member has also agreed to repay the outstanding amount with interest.

In monetary terms, outstanding contributions to the regular budget amounted to 649 million as at 30 September. Of that amount, 382 million was for the current year and 267 million for prior years.

Of the cumulative deficit amount, 9.8 million was not covered by pledges, while 1.3 million represented an outstanding commitment.

34. Accounts receivable from vendors amounted to more than 500,000, going back in part to the 1980s. No aged listing of accounts was available. Under accounts receivable from staff members, more than 650,000 was outstanding for over 12 months, including outstanding travel advances of more than 200,000. Our review of accounts receivable due from other United Nations agencies found that an amount of approximately 800,000 was outstanding with a part of this amount dating back to the 1980s.

Thus far, the review of current accounts has been completed, while the old outstanding accounts have only partially been completed, owing to the staff shortage.
