9. Many delegations said they viewed direct foreign investment as a potential vector of technologies that were environmentally friendly and could contribute to sustainable development.

The Growing Sustainable Business (GSB) initiative for poverty reduction, adopted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) aims to facilitate and increase investment and business activities that have a positive impact on sustainable development and the Millennium Development Goals.
