Over the last year, UNIDIR had 29 staff members, 2 of which were directing staff, 3 support staff (administrative and technical), 5 core substantive programme staff, 12 project research staff and 7 visiting research fellows.

The Information Technology Service has reviewed the information technology technical staff requirements in relation to the maintenance of field office services and provision has been made, through redeployment within the field office budget, to cover for 10 specific offices where such technical personnel are needed.

(h) This new infrastructure and its financial communication protocols also require highly qualified technical staff to support the uninterrupted operation of the network, access security, communications and network systems.

In order to cope with the proposed reorganization of the Service, the Information Systems Section must adapt to new requirements by increasing the number of its technical staff accordingly.

In addition, measures have also been put in place to enhance the technical competencies and excellence of UNIDO staff in the selected areas of intervention identified in the MTPF.

Technical support given to the provinces has enhanced the capacity of provincial staff and leaders in strategic planning to improve the quality of annual and five year SEDP plans.

Our information technologists re engineered and implemented a new Secretariat wide Intranet to increase staff productivity and efficiency by enabling organizational units to share information without having specialized technical knowledge.
