The Advisory Committee noted extensive travel plans for UNAMSIL, which were hard to justify for a Mission that was nearing liquidation and recommended that the travel programme should be rationalized.

The reduction recommended by the Advisory Committee regarding the financing of UNMIK was related to the requested provision for travel.

With regard to operational costs, the Advisory Committee recommended that expenditure for official travel and air transportation should be reduced.

Bearing in mind that the additional requirements for official travel are to cover a period of only three months (April to June), the Advisory Committee believes that the official travel requirements could be reduced by 500,000.

It appears to the Advisory Committee that the Director of Administration, although he has been delegated authority for the management of the Mission's financial resources, has no control over unforeseen travel by the Department of Peacekeeping Operations to the Mission.
