The present rules may be amended by a decision of the Committee taken by a two thirds majority of the members present and voting, and at least twenty four (24) hours after the proposal for the amendment has been circulated, provided that the amendment is not inconsistent with the provisions of the Convention.

Proposed amendment by the European Community for expedited amendment of the Montreal Protocol

The Austrian Minister for Foreign Affairs had submitted an amendment proposal to the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material, and a diplomatic conference for its adoption had been scheduled for July 2005.

Where, however, the adoption of one amendment necessarily implies the rejection of another amendment, the latter amendment shall not be put to the vote.
