Pursuant to the commitment and solidarity agreement among the leaders of Arab States,

Crucially, both parties have quickly and authoritatively reaffirmed their commitment to the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

This constitutes a reaffirmation of Mexico's commitment to and agreement with the initiative to make the Middle East into a denuclearized zone.

I am encouraged that, despite the tragic and untimely death of Vice President Garang, both sides have reaffirmed their commitment to the Agreement.

Reminding the Transitional Administration and all Afghan groups of their commitment to respect human rights in the country, as contained in the Bonn Agreement,

The Security Council commends the perseverance and commitment which the parties in Sudan demonstrated in achieving the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the promise of a new future.

The parties honoured their commitment and presented the Peace Agreement to the Sudanese people as a gift at the beginning of the new year, as we promised.

But the Agreement was meant to be the beginning of a comprehensive peace to be won throughout the Sudan, and also a commitment to make that happen.

3. Welcomes the progress that has been made towards the implementation of the Peace Agreement by the Government and its commitment to the full, comprehensive and consistent implementation thereof

The assistance provided demonstrates practical support for the parties' commitment and the progress being made in implementing the Bougainville Peace Agreement and the laws that give it legal effect.

Each side confirmed its country's commitment to the Taif Agreement and its mechanisms, to the Treaty of Brotherhood, Cooperation and Coordination and to the agreements arising out of the latter.

Unique provisions in the Kwanlin Dün First Nation Final Agreement include the commitment to establish two Special Management Areas Kusawa Park, and Lewes Marsh Wetland Habitat Protection Area.

The problem was the lack of commitment on the part of Mr. Foday Sankoh and some members of the RUF leadership to fulfil their obligations under the Agreement.

Despite these challenges, I was encouraged during my visit to the region in May by the commitment of the parties to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

The objective must accordingly be to motivate UNDP to commit itself more fully to the Cooperation Agreement UNIDO's commitment seemed not to be open to question.

There should be strong commitment to allowing the movement of natural persons to developed countries under Mode 4 of the General Agreement on Trade in Services.

Out of deep commitment to the United Nations, and working under your wise guidance, Mr. President, Japan will spare no effort to find agreement that will benefit all Member States.

Furthermore, no agreement has been reached on the restructuring of the Commission to ensure its independence, or on the Government's financial commitment to sustain the new structure.

This would mean that technical assistance should be provided before any commitment was made, as well as after an agreement is reached, so that the latter can be implemented.

In that connection, I wish to commend the parties for the commitment they continue to demonstrate to the Agreement on Cessation of Hostilities, signed in Algiers in June 2000.

I therefore commend the parties for safeguarding the integrity of the Temporary Security Zone and for their continuing commitment to the Agreement on Cessation of Hostilities, signed in Algiers on 18 June 2000.

The Agreement includes an Israeli commitment to allow the passage of convoys to facilitate the movement of goods and persons between Gaza and the West Bank, specifying that bus convoys would start by 15 December.

As a demonstration of this commitment, and her strong belief in a nuclear free world, she had concluded safeguards agreement with IAEA and ratified the Treaty of Pelindaba on the African Nuclear Weapon Free Zone.

13. Acknowledges the desire of the partners to reaffirm their commitment to each other, and welcomes the agreement reached in Wellington on 19 June 2003 on the text of an agreement on the principles underpinning the relationship for which the formal approval of the Government of New Zealand is being sought

Asserting its commitment to abide by the provisions of the OIC Agreement on Combating International Terrorism and its desire to coordinate the Member States' efforts in combating all forms and manifestations of terrorism including state terrorism

However, an invitation alone is not sufficient, and acceptance by the Special Rapporteur is contingent upon an express agreement by the Government of its commitment and cooperation by assuring full compliance with his terms of reference.

On 28 March I convened a pledging conference with a view to seeking the 43 million needed to fund the United Nations commitment under the Agreement and received sufficient contributions and pledges to meet the Organization's obligations.

There was political commitment, some financial commitment, and everybody joined in the fight.

In 2000, there was a further collective agreement on what needed to be done the so called 13 Steps, which actually include 18 measures for giving effect to the nuclear disarmament commitment.

The successful conclusion of the Bonn Agreement should not mean the end of the international community's engagement in Afghanistan rather, it should constitute the beginning of a new phase of international commitment.

We welcome the recent G 8 Africa Action Plan, which promises debt relief, increased aid flows, a commitment to improving global market access for African exports, and an agreement to provide medical assistance to the continent.

There must be commitment in return for commitment.

The first commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol expires at the end of 2012. So the European Union and the other Kyoto parties (the United States never ratified the agreement, and the Protocol s terms asked little of China, India, and other emerging powers) must commit to a second commitment period, in order to ensure that this legal framework is maintained.

Political will and commitment

It also enjoyed the support of key players in the international community and seemed confident of its ability to force the Syrian Arab Republic to implement its outstanding commitment under the Taif Agreement and or Security Council resolution 1559 (2004).

A new WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement would benefit all by increasing developing countries capacity to trade, strengthening the WTO s development mandate, and boosting global economic growth. More than a decade after the launch of the Doha Round of global free trade talks, this agreement could be a down payment on the commitment that WTO members have made to linking trade and development.

I reiterate the commitment of the United Nations to do everything possible to help the parties reach a peace agreement before the end of 2005 and to open a new chapter in the history of this long suffering nation.

His Majesty's Government has reiterated its firm commitment to the relocation of the Centre from United Nations Headquarters in New York and its eagerness to sign the host country agreement with the United Nations at the earliest possible date.

And the third is commitment.

I am optimistic that an agreement can be reached by the end of the year if the parties show serious good faith commitment to the AU led Abuja process and if there is sustained international pressure on them to do so.
