ESA was playing an important role it had cooperated with the European Union to develop Galileo and GMES, and continued to promote the development of European space activities based on the common European strategy for space.

The Spaceguard Central Node (SCN) is hosted by ESA at the European Space Research Institute (ESRIN) and advises ESA on issues related to NEOs.
